Dr. Norah Matthies is now a team physician for the Toronto Tempo WNBA Team
Dr. Norah Matthies is pleased to announce her appointment as a team physician for the Toronto Tempo, Canada’s first WNBA team.
A fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Matthies specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder. She is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at Toronto Western Hospital and also serves as head orthopaedic surgeon for the National Ballet of Canada.
In her new role with the Toronto Tempo, Dr. Matthies will contribute her expertise in caring for elite athletes, supporting injury prevention, assessment, treatment and safe return to play. The appointment reflects her ongoing commitment to advancing women’s health and helping athletes perform at their highest level.
The Toronto Tempo began its inaugural season in May 2026 as the WNBA’s first franchise outside the United States. Dr. Matthies is proud to support the team during this historic chapter for professional women’s basketball in Canada.
